2018 Sea Ray Fly 460 Price Sea Ray fly 460 comes fully loaded with everything family home afloat until a vacuum Dyson and a cycle system inverse area of control system for heating and cooling. Also included is a SS12 Raymarine 12.1″color LCD GPS/plotter pictures with integrated closed quantum radar scanner. She sleeps six and has convertible bunk beds in arrow cabins to improve versatility. While the trend in other sectors of pleasure navigation is fast-Fix ferries and day boats, this 460 big-hearted fly pumps the volume to meet the needs of those who prefer cruising in comfort, sleep aboard, go on Pot and Gad about no matter the time.
Launched at the International Boat Fair 2016 Fort Lauderdale, the Fly 460 comes hot from the keels of the newly stylized sport sailboat of 460 and shares the same common platform. That has some real positives, not being less than the lower rudder station is almost as scenic as the Flybridge one up top. With a large accommodation and living spaces, this is a big boat to spend a lot of time on board.
Think of Long Hawkesbury Holidays, Melbourne cruising regardless of time, wandering around the Gippsland, cheerful in the rotten — the potential destination list goes on and is long. Fly 460 has no power options as much as transmission line options. They range from the standard 550HP Cummins QSB 6.7 s with Vee drives, which we drove on the 460 fly at the yacht Expo 2016 in Florida, to the same engines, down-sized to 480hp, with the increased drives of the Zeus pod. Both configurations have underwater leaks.
Zeus pods, which is said to represent half the fly 460 engine sales to date, add integrated autopilot and joystick control to ease the docking. Otherwise, the joystick is an option with Vee units linked to bow and stern propellers. Among the other options to consider — and the Showboat we were driving — are the hydraulic swimming platform to facilitate the dispatch of bids and boats; The Gourmet grill and the sink station built on the crossbar; A SureShade cockpit electric awning; The Salon wine Cooler; a washer/dryer; and opening wickets in both cabins. It was the first few days as we went to press with this Scoop review, but the new 2017 sea Ray Fly 460 Base price came in about 1,360,000 dollars with standard engines. Upgrade to Zeus cost an extra $110k. These prices come from Queensland Marine importer, the Queensland Marine Center.
While the cockpit is not the largest of its kind, the 460 fly has an electric extension crossbar with built-in lounge that changes 40cm off-board to create a little more space. But it is the area of the extended flown bridge that calls for lunch, after which the Foredeck pads could be your destination for Zeds. Open as we had it, the flying Bridge caters to the cruise time fair and entertained in a quiet bolthole. The center of molded amenities can be opted for a fridge and an iron, while the size teak table and the lounge seat six. The Sunpad next to the helm is perfect for children to travel safely to the captain’s reach when navigating.
Downwards of the molded staircase, the lounge multi-panel opening doors and the level cabin entrance make the stern galley pleasant and accessible from the outdoor and flying bridge areas. Genuine wood Flooring Creates a home-like environment, while amenities operate the range of side-by-side bench-height refrigerator and freezer to two burner housing and convection microwave oven. There was the wine fridge updated in front with a 40in TV in revolving stand that faces anywhere in the galley and lounge cabin. The sport and a cold drink, two of the essential for many, were never far away.
The elevated seating area of the lounge and the internal rudder station in front of the galley are flanked by deep lounge windows. With high space, plush lounges and reverse cycle air conditioning, you get comfortable main lounge for all the time of social cruising. Downstairs, the arrangement of two cabins/two bathrooms includes a massive stateroom with full beams with private bathroom and separate shower. This impressive stateroom is similar to what we would expect to find in a 52 standing. It’s a real home away from home. The second cabin in the arch has the scissor bunks that glide together to create the usual double. This cabin in Suite is doubled as the dayhead of the boat. The optional aperture portholes boosts natural ventilation, while all PowerPoints now include USB connection for charging as well.
As with our test boat, the high-gloss cherry of the Union adds a luxury of look and feel, while the standard stone bathroom floor, and the spring mattresses, are all features of Big Ray Sea in consonance with the feel of C ASA-like things. Sea Ray has also maximized storage on the 460 march and you should be able to pack a lot of equipment on board, with your offer on the optional hydraulic swimming platform, and a lot of food in the galley fridges. As the 460 was designed to navigate from below in the first instance, as with the sister of the ballerina 460 on which this new variant of the Fly is based, ergonomics and vision from the lower rudder are large.
The Great Bridge is a bonus and you can attach that with clears if you want to, add a roof top for the hard ceiling that has shown popular, or keep it open as we had a Florida style. Access to the engine room and design are quite easy for the owner’s pre-departure checks. Depending on your intended application, there is an optional long-range 1638LT fuel tank available on standard 1419LT, while the water 530lt is reasonably abundant. We’ll add a desalination plant for autonomy. The 4.32 m wide beam hull has a moderate 17 degree Deadrise, good for carrying a large load and remaining stable at rest. The big footprint of the hull also creates a boat that is quite willing to jump out of the hole.

We left the pier on the island of Captiva and entered the Gulf of Mexico in benign conditions. The fore and aft thrusters and a joystick made for an easy output. I noticed that you could see the port edge of the swimming platform from the port rudder on the Fly Bridge. This creates a reference point for docking. Two sea Ray Heavys were on our side — Scott Ward, senior vice president and Sports yachts GM and Yates; and Ron Berman, VP of Sea Ray’s product development, and a long time employee of the parent company Brunswick Marine. A relaxed cruise with low noise levels ensued while we yakked on the nautical life on the Grand Bridge. The Twin 30cm displays Raymarine MFD sat on the board very well, along with the SmartCraft VesselView screen. We left, hitting 21.2 knots cruising in 2898rpm with 75 percent of engine load-the sweet spot-while 3350rpm WOT gave 28 knots of maximum speed.
On a fast cruiser of 24.6 knots in 3100rpm, the twin 550HP Cummins QSB 6.7 s with Vee drives used over 190LT/hr for a modest range of about 200nm. I think you’ll get 220-nm range of 18-20 optimal knots with the optional long-range tank.
