Sea Ray Sundancer 370 Review: A Luxurious and Powerful Yacht for Unforgettable Adventures

Posted on

Sea Ray Sundancer 370: The Sundancer 370 Outboard embodies sophistication, elegance, and athleticism. The vessel has been meticulously designed to maximize capacity and functionality, making it ideal for day trips and weekend stays. Multiple areas of the boat are deftly crafted for relaxation, allowing for natural conversation.

In addition, the Sundancer 370 Outboard features a variety of cutting-edge technologies and opulent amenities that will ignite your passion for the water like never before. It is also offered as a Coupe with a hardtop, complete windscreen, and electrically operated windows.

Sportscruising. Remember it? Before the double whammy of the rise in petroleum prices and the economic downturn, sports cruisers were the standard boating currency and a necessity.
for zipping through our urban waterways. But overnight, the 30- to 40-foot market took a major hit, and many aspirational boaters who had worked their way up from trailer boats to ‘big’ boats decided it was time to sever ties.

Well, there’s a limit to how long you can suppress joy, the sense of joie de vivre that comes with the summer sun, and the convenience of sports cruising. While retirees plod along the coast in the latest reborn passagemakers, the middle-aged with plenty of get-up-and-go and young families get their sports cruiser filled by simply adding water.

ObThisassion for powerboats is not unique to Australia; in fact, America is the sports cruising capital of the world. Even though the number of competing sports cruiser brands available in the United States is now a mere shadow of its former grandeur, the best sports cruisers continue to vie for parking spaces in our major cities.

This brings us to Sea Ray, a large American boat manufacturer that has been a part of the Australian marine environment for as long as I can recall. It is one of the few Yankee trademarks that has withstood the test of time, enduring a crippling recession in the United States and a global retreat. And with the Australian dollar now residing above US$0.90 and attractive factory and dealer incentives, now is an excellent time to return to sports cruising.

Sea Ray Sundancer 370 Review

The Sea Ray Sundancer 370 is the epitome of elegance and sophistication on the seas. With its sleek lines, spacious deck, and opulent amenities, this yacht exudes a sense of grandeur and style. Let’s explore the key features that make the Sundancer 370 a standout choice for discerning yacht enthusiasts.

Sea Ray Sundancer 370

No one can deny the driving enjoyment of a sporty vehicle, whether it be a roadster or a sports cruiser. Drop the top – if it’s a bimini – or scroll up the clears, scent the salt, feel the wind in your hair, let your eyes water behind those polarised sunglasses, and scurry to your favorite hideaway. Such joy.

With twin gasoline inboard engines, the 370 Sundancer has ample acceleration. The sporty performance is provided by a pair of 375hp MerCruiser T-496 Magnum MPI petrol engines – yes, twin V8s with large 8.1lt blocks – with the Seacore anti-corrosion system and, even better, the most recent upgraded Axius fly-by-wire steering and docking remote.

Axius is a standard feature aboard the 370 Sundancer. The computer-controlled brains transform the rear-facing sterndrives into independently steerable units that, with a nudge, twist, or lean of the joystick, allow you to position with ease. As soon as you engage the ignition, you make a hasShortlyar future, spouses and children will be equally adept at docking. Tafterat the conclusion of the day.

The twin big-block V8s and generator are not crammed beneath the cockpit floor. A push-button hydraulic riser raises the lid for simple access and quick bilge inspections. In addition to an abundance of servicing space, there is ample room to store a rolled-up rubber duck, an outboard on a custom bracket, and an assortment of aquatic toys.

The local Sea Ray dealers, in this instance Andrew Short Marine in Sydney – “Shorty” was still with us when he handed over this boat for testing – also deserve credit for transforming the 370 Sundancer into more than just a point-and-shoot vessel. If you are having a good time, which is highly likely on this boat during the long, sweltering summer days, you can spend the weekend or longer at anchor. With a hot-cold deck shower, 189 liters of water should be adequate.

This 370 Sundancer was equipped with a 4kW gasoline Kohler generator and air conditioning for complete climate control, 240V power away from the berth, and independence. The optional inverter allows you to operate the boat’s AV systems without the generator, so you can watch a DVD in bed without disturbing your neighbors. Utilize the TV remote, turn it off, turn off the cabin lights, and fall asleep.

New Sea Ray Sundancer 370

It has taken until now for the Sea Ray yard to acknowledge the requirements of international markets, particularly Australia, by constructing less nationalistic boats. We may be subjected to many aspects of Yankee culture, but when it comes to sailing, we tend to conduct ourselves differently.

Sea Ray Sundancer 370Sea Ray Sundancer 370

Here, outdoor living is highly valued. In contrast to the United States, where people tend to close the curtains and hide below decks on vessels docked in marinas, we engage our boating neighbors and host open parties on board.

As if awakening from a nightmare, the Sea Ray executives have realized that there is an entire universe of boating beyond the Great Lakes. This awakening is also due to the efforts of local dealers, who fostered significant brand loyalty through owners’ rendezvous and the Aquapalooza (see www.aquapalooza.com), billed as the world’s largest on-water celebration for any boat brand.

Sea Ray has seized the kangaroo by the tail and produced some of the most innovative new mid-range sports cruisers of all time, buoyed by the support in Australia. The 370 Sundancer tested here, for that, is its overall length (a trend that will become more prevalent as boat manufacturers rebrand as opposed to redesign), is a Yankee sports cruiser with broad appeal (formerly known as the 350). Large outdoor living areas, on-deck amenity centers, and even a built-in barbecue will satisfy the entertainer in all of us.

In addition, the interior does not have a secluded atmosphere due to the lack of natural light, tiny portholes, and dark wood joinery. In an effort to contend with European sports cruiser brands, the Sea Ray 370 Sundancer features a Euro-inspired finish with high-gloss cherrywood joinery, white liners, and bone-colored upholstery, while retaining its American-sized dimensions, which provide ample head, shoulder, and girth room.

ADVENTURE DAY OR NIGHT

The Sundancer 370 Outboard glides effortlessly through the water regardless of where your adventures lead you. Discover new coastlines during the day and unwind at night. Whether you want to spend an afternoon or the entire weekend on the water, the yacht is exquisitely appointed with inviting amenities that create an oasis-like atmosphere.

The cockpit’s wet bar, teak port cockpit table, optional Kenyon grill, optional refrigerator, and optional teak starboard cockpit table make it ideal for serving brunch or hosting dinner parties.

INSPIRED DESIGN

The Sundancer 370 Outboard showcases new, contemporary Sea Ray design language, along with the iconic Sundancer Series’ streamlined artistry and distinctive craftsmanship. The versatility of the Sundancer 370 Outboard’s features has been meticulously considered and intelligently designed. It all contributes to an unmatched yachting experience.

TECHNOLOGY AT A TOUCH

Standard on the Sundancer 370 Outboard is triple Mercury® 300 Verado® outboard engines with Joystick Piloting and an optional Dynamic Running SurfaceTM. Offering the latest in intelligent command, the cockpit is outfitted with a Digital DashTM with dual 12″ touchscreen Simrad® GO12 displays as standard.

It also features CZone® digital switching for complete illumination control, an optional Seakeeper® 3 gyro stabilizer, and an optional Fusion® Apollo RA770 integrated premium audio system.

RELAXATION BELOW DECK

The interior of the Sundancer 370 Outboard accommodates four people and features design elements that emphasize the cabin’s spaciousness. The enclosed head features a distinct shower as well as spa-like finishes. The galley is equipped with a standard microwave and refrigerator, and the forward V-berth lounge area converts from an L-shaped settee to a double bed.

The mid-berth is ideal for children because it features an optional smart TV for playing video games and a conventional U-shaped couch that converts into a double bed.

DAYBOATING TRIP

Sleep comes naturally after a long day on the water, and the Sea Ray 370 is ideal for a variety of activities, including watersports, entertaining, and the art of simply relaxing. The pullout lounge with built-in drink receptacles in the transom is exquisite. As the anchor swings, you can relax and take in the scenery while facing aft. Then, quickly compress it back into the trunk.

The cockpit can accommodate eight for lunch on a large C-shaped lounge set surrounding a folding timber dinette, with the double-width skipper’s seat to port and co-pilot seat to starboard both swiveling to face the setting.

The built-in amenities center behind the helm seat is remarkable, with a stainless steel barbecue and hood, allowing for oven-style cooking options, in addition to a refrigerator, sink, and Toshiba television for watching the cricket. The underwater lamps may even encourage a nighttime swim during the summer.

Importantly, the 370 Sundancer is equipped with a molded hardtop, bimini top, and complete camper covers for sun and weather protection. When that is not a concern, you can ascend the dash and pass through the center-opening windscreen to reach the optional foredeck sun pad with a cleverly folding backrest and speakers that create a distinct lifestyle zone.

The vessel was also outfitted with a windlass, anchor wash, spotlight, recessed studs, and ample railings to keep you and your personnel safe. The premium cockpit audio system with an iPod interface will accommodate the summertime deck party. In dayboat mode, you can accommodate a dozen individuals.

BED AND BREAKFAST

The open-plan aft cabin below decks serves as a useful rumpus room or leisure area when not (easily) converted to a double bed using the lounge backrests as filler cushions. A curtain provides some degree of seclusion. The saloon has a lengthy lounge that, when converted, can also accommodate two individuals. So that a family of four can transport two additional children.

Opposite the lounge and dinette is a well-appointed galley with a two-burner electric cooktop, a reasonable microwave oven, a refrigerator with a freezer tray, numerous storage compartments, and a deep sink. The countertops are expansive and made of upscale Corian, and I discovered ample locker space for weekend provisions, skylights, and opening portholes for natural light and ventilation.

The fit and finish is most accurately described as meeting good quality production-boat standards but are elevated by the optional maple hardwood timber flooring, which, along with the optional central vacuum, will aid in the Sunday afternoon clean-up.

Located in the bow of the ship, the stateroom features an inviting island double bed with a clever push-button reclining headrest, similar to a hospital bed, so you can view a movie in complete comfort. This forward cabin has no legroom with the mattress completely extended, but the Sundancer 370 cannot be accused of lacking space. In its previous incarnation, it was a 350, and its cocoon is compact and easy to handle.

The separate standing-height bathroom features a hot/cold shower over the Vacuflush toilet, which is a quasi-version of a distinct shower cubicle, but the handheld transom shower is always the superior choice on a boat of this caliber. And with 946 liters of fuel in the aluminum tanks, you should be able to get away quickly for your watersports cruising dose. Due to its convenience, the 370 Sundancer is an ideal dayboat and weekender for impromptu excursions.

YAHOO SERIOUS

The twin V8 engines respond when the throttles are advanced, propelling the 370 Sundancer to a maximum speed of 37 knots. But you’ll find a more leisurely Sunday cruise at 3000rpm and 20kts while burning significantly less gasoline, with 3500rpm returning 23kts when the boat is in its cruising groove. You will soon be anchored at your preferred hideout and hunkering down, as the Americans say.

Obviously, ocean crossings are entirely possible with twin engines, but I see this vessel more as a Sunday pleasure cruiser. And with the Axius joystick, slipping the boat back into its berth is a pleasure. Due to the responsiveness of the system, light joystick movements produce the most fluid results. After fifteen minutes, I had the boat on a string, and with a clear vision from the helm down the portside, it is possible to dock without leaving the seat, much like parking a vehicle.

In summary, the 370 Sundancer is an excellent sports cruiser for the finally-arriving summer. It will provide turnkey backyard entertainment for a youthful family without consuming excessive amounts of petrol or diesel. We like the design, the cockpit, the barbecue, the rear lounge that folds down, the double bed, and the bathroom. And with Axius and the endorsement of major brands, you won’t be left floundering during a GFC. Turn the key and commence sports cruising.
